Elite Gravel Championship

The British Gravel Championship Gravel Race is the biggest challenge of the King’s Cup Gravel Festival weekend.

The Elite Races will crown both men’s and women’s British Gravel Champions. The respective Junior Races will start immediately after the Elite events begin and run concurrently.

Race distance: approx. 75km (Elite Race) & approx. 60km (Junior Race)

Route: Racing will take place on approx. 15km lap

Eligibility: Open to all ages (16-18 for Junior Race & 19+ for Elite Race)*

Nationality: Riders from any nationality may compete but only British passport holders are eligible to win the British Gravel Championship jersey.

Lapped Riders: Riders who have been lapped when the winner crosses the line will be deemed to have finished their race when they next cross the line, and given a final position.

Masters Championship

The Masters Gravel Race (Men’s & Women’s race) is perfect challenge for those looking to take on their fellow age-group competitors. With British Gravel Master’s Champions jerseys on offer in all age categories, this is your chance to show your gravel racing prowess.

The multi-lap format has been retained for 2024.

Race format: Riders will set off in age group waves and race four laps of a new approx. 15km lap. Riders will need to have started their final lap within 2 hours of the start.

Route: Racing will take place on an approx 15km lap

Eligibility: Open to riders aged 19 and older*

Nationality: Riders from any nationality may compete but only British passport holders are eligible to win the British Gravel Championship jersey.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • You must be aged 19 or over on 31st December 2024.

  • Anyone aged 16, 17, or 18 on 31st December 2024 can compete in the Junior Race.

  • Anyone can ride the race, but you are only eligible to become British Gravel Champion title if you hold a British passport (which must be presented at the on-site registration).

    If a non-British rider finishes in the Top 3, there will be two podiums after the race, the first for the British Gravel Championships, the second for the race which will include any foreign riders in the top three.

  • The Masters age groups are as follows;

    19-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+. All ages are taken on 31st December 2024.

  • The Masters will race four laps of an approx. 15km lap. Riders will need to begin their final lap within 2 hours of their start time.

  • Yes they are. Men and women will ride the same distances in all races.

  • Not quite. Lapped riders in the Elite Races will be withdrawn and given their finish placing once the lead rider has finished their race.

    You will then be given your finishing position.

    It works like in Formula One. When the winner crosses the line you only remain in the race if you have already started your final lap.

    This rule does not apply to the Masters races.
