Elite Gravel Race

A fast, breathless gravel challenge - race for the jersey!

What is it?

The British Gravel Championship Elite Gravel Race for Men, Women and Juniors is the biggest challenge of the King’s Cup Gravel Festival weekend.

For 2024 riders will compete on multiple laps of a new route through Suffolk’s beautiful King’s Forest.

The new circuit will still be all off-road, on hard-packed and loose gravel, grass, dirt and sand through Suffolk’s beautiful King’s Forest. The tracks are wide enough for bunch racing and overtaking, making for a dynamic day’s competition.

Race Format

We’ve retained the multi-lap format for 2024.

All the races are mass start, with the Juniors heading off just behind the Elites and completing fewer laps than the older riders.

The race will finish when the winner crosses the line with all riders behind given a place. Those riders who are lapped during the race will be withdrawn and given a place based on their position when they were withdrawn.

Who’s it for?

You need the legs, lungs and skills to compete at the highest level, against the very best gravel racers in the country. You never know, that British Gravel Champion’s jersey could be yours.

If you’re more interested in competing within your age group? Then there is still a chance to win a jersey though, as you can enter the Masters Championships where each age group race will have its own champion too.

To qualify for the Junior race you must be at least 16 years of age on the day of the event, but not more than 18 on December 31st 2024.

Riders from any nationality may compete but only British passport holders are eligible to win the British Gravel Championship jersey.

Should a non-British rider finish in the Top 3 there will be two podiums after the race, the first for the British Gravel Championships, the second for the race which will include any foreign riders in the top three.
